When consumers take on a new home project or go on holiday, they may be so focussed on getting value for money they forget a more important cost – safety. The result is the kind of tragic accidents we hear about so much in the media. The CPA has been established to put safety higher up the public’s hierarchy of awareness. The more we can encourage consumers to make it their primary focus, the less likely it is that future accidents will occur.
EDUCATE
Raising awareness is the key tool we have to improve consumer safety. The more we can help consumers understand what a good standard of work looks like, the less likely they are to suffer the consequences. That’s why education is such a key objective of the Consumer Protection Alliance. This website and our campaigns provide a one stop shop, helping people to understand the risks and get the information they need to overcome them.
COLLABORATE
With the aim of improving industry standards and consumer protection, founder members NICEIC, Gas Safe Register, Dispute Resolution Ombudsman and Which? Trusted Traders have established an advice-based alliance to extend the reach of important safety messages. By collaborating with each other, and an anticipated growing membership in the future, we aim to better improve consumer awareness and safety.
