We take it for granted that our boilers, cookers and gas fires are safe, but if they are badly fitted and poorly serviced you could be at risk from carbon monoxide poisoning, gas leaks, fires and explosions.
The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman, which incorporates The Furniture Ombudsman, is supporting a national campaign to raise awareness of gas safety across the UK.
Gas Safety Week is taking place this week (14 – 20 September) and is an annual event coordinated by the Gas Safe Register with support from the gas industry, including retailers, manufacturers, consumer bodies and the public.
The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman is part of the newly formed Consumer Protection Alliance, a non-commercial, not for profit, strategic alliance to promote consumer safety and protection across the construction, gas and electrical installation sectors.
Kevin Grix Chief Ombudsman and Chief Executive for the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman, explains why they are choosing to pledge their support: “We want to show our support for Gas Safety Week as it is really important to raise awareness of gas safety. We work closely with the home improvement industry and with consumers, so want to be part of this campaign to encourage people to use have their home gas safety checked every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Through our newly formed alliance with industry leaders, we aim to be at the forefront of promoting these crucial safety messages to the industry and consumers.”
The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman specialises in providing Alternative Dispute Resolution solutions for consumers. It also aims to raise standards, improve service and inspire consumer confidence.
